Introduction

Introduction of ANODIZED ALUMINIUM COIL

Anodized aluminum coils are products made from aluminum alloy coils as the base material, with a protective aluminum oxide film formed on their surface through an electrochemical process. This anozied film is derived from the aluminum substrate itself; it bonds firmly to the substrate and will not peel off, while also imparting greater hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance to the material. Thanks to its excellent surface properties, this product is widely used in numerous fields, including construction, electronics, and transportation.

Common Anodic Film Thicknesses and Applications

Common anodic film thickness Applications and Features
Standard Anodic Film 3–5 μm Primarily used indoors to provide basic decorative and corrosion-resistant protection,

such as for air conditioner panels and internal refrigerator components.

Thickened Anodic Film 10–15 μm Meets the requirements for long-term outdoor use, with significantly enhanced weather resistance and corrosion resistance;

it is the mainstream choice for building curtain walls, outdoor signage, and similar applications.

Thick-Film Anodizing 20–25 μm Provides extremely high wear resistance and corrosion resistance; suitable for harsh environments such as ships,

aircraft components, and electrical components.

Hard Anodized Coating 60–200 μm Achieves extremely high hardness and wear resistance using specialized processes;

primarily used for mechanical wear-resistant parts such as engine cylinders.

Common Alloys

Alloy Anodizing Characteristics and Typical Applications
Series 1 (Pure Aluminum) 1050, 1060, 1100 High transparency of the oxide film, resulting in a bright, lustrous surface. Suitable for lighting fixtures, nameplates, and other applications requiring high reflectivity.
Series 3 (Aluminum-Manganese Alloys) 3003, 3005 After anodizing, the surface takes on a grayish-brown hue, and color variations between batches are common. These alloys are often used in applications where color consistency is not critical, such as can stock and heat sinks.
Series 5 (Aluminum-Magnesium Alloys) 5005, 5052, 5083 High-quality materials specifically designed for anodizing. The anodized coating is clear, translucent, and uniform, making it the preferred choice for high-end exterior components such as architectural curtain walls, interior decorations, home appliance housings, and transportation interiors.
Series 6 (Aluminum-Magnesium-Silicon Alloys) 6061, 6063 The anodized coating is clear and offers excellent protection. 6063 is a high-quality architectural material that complements 5005, while 6061, due to its higher strength, is commonly used for structural components.

Application Areas

Thanks to their outstanding surface properties, anodized aluminum coils have a wide range of applications:

  • Architectural Decoration: High-end building curtain walls, interior ceilings, and subway station interior panels.
  • Electronics and Appliances: Telecommunications cabinets, server enclosures, home appliance housings, and consumer electronics casings.
  • Lighting and Transportation: Lighting reflectors, automotive interior and exterior trim, and rail transit vehicle interiors.
  • Other: Outdoor signage, cosmetics packaging, and precision instrument panels, among others.
